This year, Mother’s Day in the UK falls on Sunday, 14th March. Granted, things are still a bit tricky and you may not be able to celebrate the way you’d like to. We’ve put together a few ideas that may hopefully inspire you and allow you to show your Mamma you care, without physically being there.
Flowers for Mother's Day
Giving flowers as a gift is a thoughtful and affectionate way of showing someone that you’re thinking about them. You may already know your Mamma’s favourite flower, but if you are stuck for inspiration, a few Italian favourites are bluebells, violets and periwinkles. Sending a bouquet of flowers in the post would be a great way to put a smile on her face, or even better, hand-deliver them to her door (socially distanced of course).
Order one of our fresh pasta meal kits
Our pasta meal kits make a great gift as they offer fresh, authentic, Italian pasta that can be ready in just 5 minutes. Each dish is cooked from scratch in our kitchens by real Italians who know exactly what makes food from Italy so special. We then carefully package each meal and deliver it to your door the next day. If that isn’t tempting enough, we are also offering two free, 200ml bottles of DOC Prosecco with each order over £25 to give an extra special touch; after all, she’s worth it. But hurry, only available whilst stock lasts!
Plan a socially distanced walk
It’s always good to get outside for some fresh air and embrace nature. Thankfully, this is still something we are able to do during these difficult times, so why not ask your Mamma to join you on a socially-distanced walk? This is a great opportunity to have a catch-up and you could even treat her to a takeaway coffee whilst you’re out and about. Research in advance and find a new route to take around your local area, or keep it simple and take a stroll around your local park. If you’re not able to do this, you could add one of our coffee blends to your next Scarpetta order and have a virtual coffee date over zoom. Put in some FaceTime
We’re all rather familiar with Zoom at this point. It’s been a great way to connect with family and friends during these tough times and there are ways to make it even more fun and exciting. Whilst it may not be the same as physically seeing somebody in person, it’s all we’ve got right now, so take advantage of that. You could send a package to your Mamma’s door containing everything you need to host a ‘bake along’ session or a cocktail-making class. Organise a post-lockdown trip
We understand it is difficult at the moment to make plans or get excited about the future, but it’s always great to have something to look forward to. If you can’t celebrate how you would like to this Mother’s day, why not plan something simple like a trip to one of our restaurants, the beach or a weekend away for when there’s a little bit more normality in the world.
